Avvo Reports 150 Percent Growth in Traffic and Record Participation in Its Legal Q&A Forum

Avvo helps a consumer every 8.3 seconds make smarter, more confident legal decisions at every stage of the process – from researching a legal issue to hiring the right attorney

Seattle, Wash — Avvo, Inc., the web’s largest legal Q&A forum, directory and legal marketplace (www.avvo.com), today announced it exceeded multiple records for user participation and site growth over the last year.  At more than six million visits per month, consumer traffic to Avvo.com has increased 150 percent in the last year.  In addition, more than 150,000 attorneys from around the country now participate on Avvo.com, representing a 50 percent increase in just the last year.

Avvo provides trusted answers to consumer legal questions every 8.3 seconds. And, attorneys on Avvo have provided more than 2.5 million answers to consumer legal questions with a 96 percent answer rate, making Avvo’s legal Q&A forum the largest and most reliable on the web. Avvo attorneys received more than 275,000 contacts from prospective clients in the month of May alone.

The company also added two new products in the past six months, expanding its offering to both consumers and attorneys as it leads the way in bringing the $250 billion legal services market online.

Avvo Legal Marketplace. Consumers needing legal representation provide Avvo with information and, based on that, receive simple proposals from multiple attorneys that include price, process and probability of success, allowing consumers to easily evaluate their legal situation and the multiple attorneys willing to help them. Available now for divorce and traffic ticket cases with additional practice areas to be added later in the year.

Avvo Ignite. A cloud-based marketing platform for attorneys that gives attorneys the tools needed to grow their practice online, close more clients and save time and money.

“Avvo is changing how consumers hire lawyers and how attorneys grow their practice — from the connections made in our Q&A forum and the transparency provided in the Avvo Legal Marketplace and the Avvo Rating, to the tools Avvo Ignite gives attorneys to help them engage new clients through Avvo Ignite,” said Mark Britton, founder and CEO, Avvo, Inc. “And as a result, we are seeing record traffic growth and engagement from consumers and lawyers alike.”

Legal services are moving online, as evidenced by the fact that 58 million consumers in the U.S. sought an attorney in 2010 and 76 percent of them used an online resource to search – marking the first time that more people went online to search for an attorney versus consulted with family or friends. The market for legal services in the U.S. is worth well over $250 billion per year[i], and nearly 40 percent of that is made up of consumer legal spending.

In April, Avvo moved its 85-person headquarters to a larger office in Seattle’s International District, space formerly occupied by Amazon. The office move enables the company to accommodate the personnel associated with its growth.
