Seattle, Wash — Avvo, Inc. (www.avvo.com), the world’s largest legal directory, announced today the availability of profiles and ratings for licensed attorneys in Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Mississippi, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Utah and Vermont.
With this release, attorneys who are licensed in multiple states and already have an Avvo profile can easily indicate their bar membership in one of the new nine states on their existing Avvo profile. Lawyers in these new states, who are not currently in the Avvo database, can easily create their profile through a simple submission process. After Avvo validates and confirms the lawyer’s status with the appropriate state bar, the profile will be included in Avvo’s directory and search results.
Additionally, consumers searching for an attorney in these new states will now be able to access attorney profiles through Avvo.

As a result of this expansion, people in these nine states have more information and better guidance to find the right lawyer in their area. They can utilize Avvo Answers, a free question and answer forum, to post specific questions – anonymously if desired – about legal issues, and receive personalized answers from attorneys practicing in their state.
Avvo profiles include the Avvo Rating – a sophisticated and responsible system that evaluates the lawyers’ background, body of work and disciplinary records. Avvo also displays client reviews submitted by consumers and peer endorsements submitted by attorneys.
In addition to attorneys creating or claiming their Avvo profiles on their own, they can utilize Avvo’s “Firm Claim” feature that allows multi-lawyer law firms to claim their lawyers’ profiles in one easy step. After claiming their profiles, attorneys or their administrators can update the Avvo profiles with as much information as they want, as often as they want. They can also endorse other lawyers in their network, participate in Avvo Answers and post legal guides specific to their practice area. Claiming an Avvo profile enables attorneys to further enhance their visibility and reputation online to attract new clients.
