Meet Penny: Avvo Dog of the Month

Avvo is a dog-friendly workplace, and we love to celebrate the office companions who make our days more fun! Inside Avvo will be featuring a different Avvo dog every month for the balance of 2017.

Penny and Jeffrey Taylor

When did you get Penny and where did you get her from?

We brought Penny home on Sunday, June 12. We picked her up from a breeder in Spangle (outside of Spokane). We had no idea Bernedoodles existed; I’d been looking for Labradoodles or Goldendoodles when I ran across www.savvybernedoodles.com and found Penny. It took my honey and I all of three minutes to decide we wanted her, and that was that. We planned a road trip for that weekend to pick her up.

How did you decide on her name?

Penny is the name she came with, and it was perfect for us. We lost our boy Benny in October of last year. Penny even had the same birthday as Benny—how could we change her name?!

How often do you bring her to work?

I bring her to work 3 or 4 days a week. She has made many friends at Avvo, both human and canine. She has a little bit of diva in her and seems to really love the attention.

What’s her favorite treat?

Filet mignon and rotisserie chicken. Sunday is steak night at Chateau Taylor and I once made the mistake of trying to buy her love and affection with leftover steak. I followed that up with rotisserie chicken and now she won’t eat regular treats. I may never live that one down.

What about Penny makes you smile?

The sweetness and love she gives all the humans and canines she meets. She does love to chase cats, so I’m not sure how that will work out. She also has a thing for crows. I’m pretty sure she gets that from me.

What is your favorite thing to do together?

Our new favorite activity is walking Green Lake. She has just discovered her love for water. Teaching her how to swim has been magical.

If Penny were a person, who would she be?

We can’t seem to figure out one person Penny would be. We have decided she must be famous and wealthy so Penny can take care of us in luxury when we become old.
