Taking PRIDE in our employees and our community

On Sunday, June 26th, we took to Seattle’s streets to walk in the PRIDE Parade, showing support for colleagues, friends, family and the greater Seattle community.  The Seattle PRIDE Parade is the third largest in the nation, and thousands of people lined the streets to watch.

“The crowd was incredible,” said Bre McCallister, Event Coordinator at Avvo. “The energy and the sheer amount of people present made walking in the parade worth every second, especially following the tragedy in Orlando.” The shooting in Orlando, where 49 people were killed at the night club Pulse, happened one week prior to the parade.  Extra police were present at the parade and no incidents were reported.

Fifty-five Avvo employees participated, many with their spouses and kids. The team carried a banner and handed out candy, t-shirts and tote bags to the crowd.

“We want people to know that getting legal help doesn’t have to be difficult,” said Jess McMahon, Event Manager, “and that getting the help you need can actually be within your budget.”  Jess and her 5-year old son, Ryder, both walked in the parade. “We’re a diverse, family-friendly workforce,” she added. “Being involved in Seattle PRIDE is a natural fit for us.”

Avvo also had a booth at the Volunteer Park PRIDE Festival, where we handed out Frappuccinos and information about how Avvo can help people find the right lawyer for their needs.
