Kevin and Marina Krim hired Yoselyn Ortega to look after their three children. When Marina returned home after taking her 3-year-old daughter to a swimming lesson, she discovered the bodies of her other two children in a bathtub of bloody water.

Lucia “Lulu” Krim, age 6, and Leo Krim, age 1, had been stabbed to death by Ortega. When Krim entered the room, Ortega immediately slit her own wrists and stabbed herself in the throat. The babysitter and two children were taken to the hospital, and only Ortega survived.

Ortega revealed that she was angry with the Krims for the chores she had to do and the low wage she was paid. She is currently awaiting trial. The Krims have since welcomed a son into their broken family.

3. Michael Plumadore, 2011

Nine-year-old Aliahna Lemmon’s mother was ill and her father worked nights. A neighbor, Michael Plumadore, looked after Aliahna and her 6-year-old twin sisters in his trailer when the parents could not. When Aliahna went missing, the babysitter said he’d just assumed she went back home.

Days went by and the girl was not found. When the FBI got involved, Plumadore admitted that he had beaten Aliahna with a brick and dismembered her body with a hacksaw. He froze the girl’s head, hands, and feet in a freezer and disposed of the rest of her body in a dumpster.

The murderer never revealed his motive for the killing, and Aliahna’s sisters were left unharmed. Plumadore faced the death sentence, but after pleading guilty was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

2. Tiffany Van Alstyne, 2014

Nineteen-year-old Tiffany Van Alstyne was babysitting her 5-year-old cousin, Kenneth White, when she alerted police that two masked men had taken the little boy. An Amber alert was issued and a search ensued. Searchers did not have to look far. Kenneth’s strangled body was found covered with snow about 40 yards from the trailer.

Facing murder charges and a possible sentence of life in prison, Van Alstyne confessed to becoming “frustrated” with the kindergartner. She faces 18 years for the murder of a child in the second-degree.

1. Jessica Fraraccio, 2014

Jessica Fraraccio had been caring for 23-month-old Elijah Nealey for seven months before she killed him. The 22-year-old babysitter initially told police that the boy had fallen in the bathtub and hit his head.

What actually happened was that Fraraccio was upset with the toddler because he wouldn’t stop crying. When she kicked his chair out from under him, he hit his head on the table and then on the floor. The child continued to cry, so the enraged babysitter picked him up by one arm, covered his mouth, and slammed his head on the stair railing, killing him.

Friends and family of little Elijah are desperate for justice. Fraraccio was given a sentence of just five years in prison and ordered to donate $1 to a children’s charity every year on the date of Elijah’s death.
