Meet Charlotte: Avvo Dog of the Month

Avvo is a dog-friendly workplace, and we love to celebrate the office companions who make our days more fun! Inside Avvo will be featuring a different Avvo dog every month for the balance of 2017.

Charlotte and Andy Southworth

When did you get Charlotte and where did you get her from?

I got Charlotte last year, during Thanksgiving week. I was returning from a trip to San Francisco and drove straight from the airport to pick her up. The Eskipoo breeder was about 6 hours away, in Colville, WA – it was a long trip, but worth it.

How did you decide on her name?

Growing up on a farm, I’ve always loved animals… especially pigs!  One of my favorite books from childhood is Charlotte’s Web. The name Charlotte has always stuck with me, and it just seemed to fit her personality.

How often do you bring her to work?

I probably bring Charlotte to work 3-4 days a week. One of my housemates works nights and that makes it easier to leave her home every so often. I will generally leave her at home if I have a day that is heavy on meetings.

What’s her favorite treat?

Charlotte loves brie and yams! She may not actually like these, but I had these around the house when I first got her and now she doesn’t know any better.

What about Charlotte makes you smile?

She is interested in everything. If we pass by a leaf on a walk she’ll insist we stop to investigate. Although this slows our pace, her curiosity makes me smile.

What is your favorite thing to do together?

We go on a run together every day. With all her puppy energy, she usually bolt ahead of me and circles back. My hope is to take her on a lot of hikes this summer, so I’m trying to get her paws strong and built up to withstand that terrain.

If Charlotte were a person, who would she be?

Charlotte probably would be someone like Barbara Bush.  She’s tough and independent, she has a strong-willed personality, but at the same time, she is always kind and warm.
